Sustainable fuel public benefit company Rebel Fuels is planning to begin creating “carbon-neutral” fuels by capturing biogenic CO2Â from sources such as ethanol and alcohol distilleries, wastewater treatment plants, and biogas facilities. The company then plans to combine the captured CO2Â with renewably produced hydrogen.
As a Public Benefit Corporation, Rebel Fuels is committed to creating positive environmental impact alongside financial returns. Fuels created with hydrogen and captured CO2 is one sustainable shipping fuel being pursued by the industry.
“By recycling waste CO2 into usable fuels such as methane, we’re reducing emissions and creating a circular carbon economy,” said Toby Tiktinsky, CEO of Rebel Fuels. “In focusing on drop-in ready fuels, we will be able to leverage existing infrastructure, allowing utilities and industrial operations to decarbonize processes that are otherwise difficult to electrify.”
