Aquaculture company Emilsen Fisk is installing a floating solar power plant to fuel its fish farm in Båfjordstranda, Norway. Currently, the company said, around 40% of Norwegian fish farms rely on diesel generators, contributing to carbon emissions and operational costs. Emilsen Fisk will rely on floating solar company Alotta’s technology instead.
The project has received support from Enova, with a grant covering 45% of the costs from the Climate and Energy Fund, serving as a incentive in realizing this green energy solution.
“We have greatly enjoyed working with Emilsen Fisk, a company that truly recognizes the value of investing in innovative and sustainable solutions. This project has been inspiring, and we are excited to deliver a solution that meets their needs and ambitions,” said Egil Hjelmeland, Sales Director at Alotta.
Alotta was founded in 2020 in Ålesund, Norway, specifically to provide renewable power to aquaculture operations.
“We have always been strongly focused on finding solutions that make our operations more sustainable,” said Emilsen CEO Roy Emilsen. “The Alotta Solar Hybrid 120 provides us with an excellent opportunity to harness clean energy at Båfjordstranda. We look forward to collaborating with Alotta and having the system in place by March.”
