L&G Asset Management, has appointed Maria Larsson Ortino to co-lead global investment stewardship with her colleague Trista Chen.
Ortino has worked in responsible investment over 17 years, specializing in environmental, social and governance (ESG) research. Since November she has been Director of Investment Stewardship and Health Lead at L&G and before that served as Senior Global ESG Manager.
Before joining L&G’s Asset Management division in 2019, Ortino was a member of the ESG team at both Newton Investment Management and State Street Global Advisors. She has also headed up the research team at a start-up corporate governance data company, served as an analyst within the IVIS team, part of the Investment Association, UK.
Ortino regularly gives public presentations on why L&G considers Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) a systemic risk and how institutional investors can contribute to stemming the rise of AMR through engagement with the companies in which they are invested as well as global policymakers.
Headquartered in London L&G’s investment strategy is focused on ‘Inclusive Capitalism’ or investments that benefit society as a whole, including funding science and technology hubs, clean energy solutions, and affordable housing.
