Creative Tech Textile / Hans Global, will present its new sustainable textiles, including Seawool, a fiber made from recycled oyster shells and recycled plastics blended with Merino wool, at Première Vision Paris.
“At Creative Tech Textile / Hans Global, we believe the future of fashion innovation is rooted in nature, where sustainability and performance go hand in hand,” said Eddie Wang, Founder and CEO of Creative Tech Textile / Hans Global. “Showcasing our innovations at Première Vision Paris allows us to connect with global partners who share our vision for a more responsible and forward-thinking textile industry,”
Seawool is partially made from recycled oyster shells and post-consumer plastics that transform marine waste while honoring Taiwan’s oyster farming heritage. The company said just 1% of the world’s annual shell waste can yield up to 900 tons of Seawool fiber. In 2023, the company reused 100 tons of oyster shells and 300 tons of post-consumer plastic waste.
The company said the new material is naturally antibacterial and odor-resistant and machine washable, although using recycled plastics in machine washable clothing may mean that the microplastics could be released back into the environment. More sustainable uses of recycled plastics may be the creation of items like park benches where the plastics are less likely to break down further.
Smawarm is a thermal insulation material that reengineers Seawool fibers into a spiral shape, mimicking the heat-trapping hollow strands of polar bear fur. The company said this biomimetic twist enhances thermal retention.
The company said the material has micro air pockets formed by oyster shell fibers that retain body heat without adding bulk. It is breathable, moisture wicking, and quick drying; anti-bacterial and static-resistant; ideal for daily wear, outdoor gear, and high-performance items like gloves, jackets, beddings, and insulated bags
Create Tech Textile / Hans Global said it is an active member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and participates in the Higg Index, reinforcing its alignment with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) best practices across its value chain.
