Cynergy Bank Offers Debit Cards from Parley Ocean Plastic Made from Coastal Plastic Debris

Cynergy Bank has introduced one of the UK’s first debit cards made from Parley Ocean Plastic–upcycled from marine plastic debris collected from coastal communities.

Parley’s Global Cleanup Network operates worldwide, developing education programs and building out upcycling infrastructure. With offices in 14 countries and collaborators in many more, the company said its teams and partners clear plastic waste from beaches, remote islands, rivers, mangroves and coral reefs and intercept plastic waste in coastal and island communities. Then it upcycles the plastic for a variety of products.

“Introducing this eco-innovative debit card is a natural extension of our Business Current Account, which is part of our growing family of business banking products, and demonstrates our commitment to sustainability,” said Sharon Maguire, Chief Operating Officer, Cynergy Bank.

The bank said this initiative marks a significant step in its broader ESG strategy, which is dedicated to driving positive environmental and social impact.

“The use of Parley Ocean Plastic transforms a banking card into a powerful symbol of change, one that supports ocean initiatives around the world as well as our long-term vision to redesign materials, methods and mindsets towards an economy that works in harmony with nature,” said Cyrill Gutsch, Founder, Parley for the Oceans. “More than that, it creates an innovative entry point that directly connects consumers to a global movement for positive change with every use.”
