Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) have released a new resource that maps CDP’s 2025 corporate questionnaire to the recently released GRI Climate Change and Energy Standards to help companies map sustainability compliance reporting across data sets.
The new GRI-CDP mapping tracks how company’s disclosures under the GRI 102: Climate Change 2025 and GRI 103: Energy 2025 can be used to align with CDP’s environmental datapoints. It clarifies where the two frameworks converge or complement one another and allows companies to use the same data across both disclosure systems.
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is the creator of the common global language to assess and report environmental, social and economic impacts, as articulated through the GRI Standards – the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting standards.
CDP is the global independent disclosure system for companies to measure and manage their environmental impacts. Over 14,000 organizations use the GRI Standards while more than 24,800 companies, representing over two thirds of global market capitalization, disclosed through CDP in 2024.
“This mapping tool is a new milestone in the cooperation of GRI and CDP, and will help entities to use the same data for different information purposes like the CDP questionnaire and GRI sustainability reporting,” said Harold Pauwels, GRI’s Director of Standards. “It directly addresses the needs expressed by reporting organizations implementing the GRI Standards for Climate Change, Energy and Biodiversity, who were seeking clearer guidance and alignment to smoothen their reporting journey. With sustainability reporting continuing to accelerate globally, GRI and CDP will continue their collaboration to help organizations communicate their environmental impacts and report high quality information.”
