Robin Hodess has been named as CEO of the Global Reporting Initiative, beginning in February 2025. As CEO, Hodess will take forward implementation of the new GRI strategy, further strengthening the organization’s positioning within the corporate reporting landscape.
Hodess has held a variety of international leadership roles spanning strategy, governance, advocacy, policy and research. She joins GRI from her current position as Chief of Strategy and Impact for The B Team, the nonprofit initiative with a mission to catalyze new norms of corporate leadership that better serve people and planet.
Hodess joined The B Team in 2018, initially as Director of Governance and Transparency. Prior to this, she spent nearly 18 years in senior leadership roles with the global anti-corruption NGO Transparency International, including director-level positions overseeing policy, advocacy and research, before stepping up to lead the International Secretariat.
Early in her career, Hodess worked as an analyst for Morgan Stanley in New York followed by positions with the Center for War, Peace and New Media, and the Carnegie Council for Ethics and International Affairs. She has also taught on the subject of business and the Sustainable Development Goals at the European School of Management and Technology (Berlin).
“I am thrilled and honored to be joining GRI at such an important moment, when people and organizations everywhere are focused on how to achieve a sustainable future,” Hodess said. “GRI’s sustainability standards are unique in enabling meaningful reporting on the impact of these efforts. I look forward to working across the GRI community, and together with partners, to ensure that sustainability reporting drives a thriving, inclusive economy for all.”
Originally from the US, Hodess has lived in Europe for most of her professional life and is based in Berlin. She holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Cambridge and studied History at the University of Pennsylvania.
Cristina Gil White, who has been interim CEO since September 2024, will continue to lead GRI until Hodess takes up her post.
“I celebrate the appointment of Robin as our new CEO,” she said. “She brings a unique blend of skills and experience across sectors. The team and I look forward to working alongside Robin to ensure that GRI is a springboard for change, enabling organizations to unlock the value of reporting and deliver measurable results.”
