Saint James Iced Tea, which recently launched 100% aluminum bottles, has partnered with 4ocean, an ocean cleanup company based in Boca Raton, FL, to help clean more than 50,000 pounds of plastic and trash from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines.
“Sustainability isn’t a side initiative for us. It’s core to who we are,” said Saint James co-CEO Brenden Cohen. “This partnership is another step in reducing our environmental impact while continuing to deliver the clean, organic ingredients our customers expect.”
Since the 1950s, the world has produced over 18 trillion pounds of plastic, but less than 10% has been recycled, and 79% has ended up in the environment. With global plastic production expected to triple by 2050, this joint initiative aims to help combat the crisis by removing the equivalent of 1.7 million plastic water bottles from the ocean.
Since 2017, 4ocean said, its full-time crews have removed over 44 million pounds of plastic and other debris from oceans, rivers, and coastlines. In 2022, 4ocean launched its corporate partnership program to help brands transition to a circular economy.
“Achieving cleaner oceans depends on uniting the passion of individuals with the action and innovation of businesses,” said Alex Schulze, co-founder and CEO of 4ocean.
